Black and White: T-Max 3200 Christmas.

I documented this Christmas party with a Voigtlander Bessamatic SLR loaded with T-Max 3200 film (see the full set at my flickr).  This thing is a beast, it's solid, heavy, tight, and completely mechanical.  That's right, no batteries or anything.  You load the film, wind it up and snap.

Completely off topic: Firetruck

My building has this issue of setting off the fire alarm every few weeks.  Usually early in the morning or laaate at night.  This time it was at 7am.  I just happened to be sitting around in my suit fiddling with my camera, so when the alarm went off, I got on my way out.

When I got out, I started taking some pictures of the firetruck.  I'm a people photographer, so I was trying to get some guy that was checking out the truck in the frame.  Then some guy came up to me and started talking to me about photography.  His name was Dave, and he told me if I want to get a good shot, I need to get up close and take a particular part of my subject (the car) to make it not obvious as to its nature.  I was taking in a full shot of the truck.  The idea was to take a small part with just enough bits to identify it, but not immediately.

For these photos, I used a Canon 7D and a Sigma 30mm 1.4.  The setting was ISO-100, f/1.4, 1/13s.

This model photoshoot was the first TFP (time for print) job I've done in a long time.  I normally give the people that contact me on Model Mayhem my rate, and they never contact me back.  Yep, they always want stuff for free.  It's okay, sometime (rarely) I feel I have enough free time floating around to do a TFP, especially if it involves getting to meet a new make-up artist.

The theme in this one was... Indian Bride.  It was going to be more of a portrait shoot, so I was in my safe zone (I do a lot of portraiture).

The make up artist was Paula Lanzador also from Model Mayhem.  I find meeting other make-up artists to be a lot of fun, because I'm meeting other creative types.  And next time you have a project, you can call up the person who has the style you're looking for.  And if they have a job in line, they'll do the same.  Hopefully.

For this job, I said they will get ONE photo the day after the shoot, retouched.  Then 4 more photos retouched in the next two weeks.  Make sure to get the model release form signed too.

Elena and Vanessa Photoshoot

This one is a few months old.  The photos were taken back on Oct 31st.  The photo shoot was themed on the 60's as I had acquired a Voigtlander Bessamatic SLR camera.  I felt inspired to do a retro fashion style shoot, and arranged a team to get it done.  Nicole Hogan was the camera assistant, Ashley Hogan was the make up artist for Elena Bianca, and Leah Wilburn did the wardrobe and the makeup for Vanessa Lever.
